ABOUT ART MUSEUM

Tukums Museum of Art is known for its superb collection of artwork that was started by the painter Leonīds Āriņš (1907–1991) in the early 1930s. The collection includes works by Janis Rozentāls, Johans Valters, Vilhelms Purvītis, Jēkabs Kazaks, Ģederts Eliass, Valdemārs Tone, Konrāds Ubāns, Jānis Tīdemanis, local painters Leonīds Āriņš, Ansis Artums, Kārlis Neilis and others.

The museum’s virtual exposition “Tukums Museum of Art Through the Times” shows part of the artwork collection and enables viewers to digitally create their own special postcard from their fragments thereof to be sent over e-mail as a surprise.

The museum holds exhibitions of professional Latvian artists with a focus on the creative aspects or topics explored by them. With special appointment, it is possible to view the entire artwork collection, which includes more than 500 paintings and 200 graphics.

The museum not only provides visitors with a deeper understanding of art, but also with creative expression opportunities through the Artwork Reproduction programme.
