This is a museum for children and adolescents who wish to learn about the everyday life of the popular literary character Pastariņš, who was created by the author Ernests Birznieks-Upītis (1871-1960) in commemoration of his own childhood.  Visitors will engage in games, bake bread, churn butter, and do other types of farm work.

Birznieks-Upītis was born and raised at the Bisenieki homestead in the Zentene Parish.  The farm has existed at least since the 15th century, and the Birznieks family has managed it for more than 200 years.  Over the past few decades, the appearance of the homestead has changed quite radically, and that is why there is a mock-up of the original appearance of the farm which can be examined by visitors.

The area around Dzirciems is full of intangible cultural heritage – traditions, beliefs, ancient craftsmanship skills, and knowledge that is passed down from generation to generation. Quite nearby is the Grey Rock, which is discussed in many stories, some of which Birznieks-Upītis wrote down.
